A Super Spirited Week

In honor of the Homecoming dance held in the autumn of every school year, Rancho students get the opportunity to dress up for different, fun themes every day of the week, otherwise known as Spirit Week. This year’s dress-up themes were pajama day, Adam Sandler day, bikers vs. surfers, jersey day, and class color day.

Ms. Otter, one of the Student Government advisors who helped plan this week, said her favorite theme was Adam Sandler day because of “how goofy some of the outfits are.” She also loved bikers vs. surfers, since “it was fun to see which side everyone chose, especially since the outfits had such opposite styles.” Spirit Week also included a bunch of fun events, like Soak a Senior, the pep assembly, the Homecoming volleyball game, and, of course, the Homecoming dance. Ms. Otter said she enjoyed the game the most, since “Stang Gang was incredible during the game—we had so many students show up to support, and they were cheering the whole time!” Overall, she said Spirit week went well and “everyone had great energy all week!”

Maya Litt, a junior and Student Government’s social media manager, spent the week taking photos of all kinds of different outfits, saying her favorite day was class color day since “it definitely brings the grades together” and “the junior class really showed up and showed out!” Of all the fun events hosted during the week, she said Soak a Senior was her favorite, since “all the seniors have a great time, and it is a very successful event for StuGo!” She also loved the pep assembly because “it was super well planned, and I love watching our amazing spirit coordinators’ hard work pay off!” Overall, her most memorable part of Spirit Week is “making videos for the Instagram because I love getting different groups of people involved!” Next year, Maya hopes to “get some spirit days we haven’t had before to keep it fun and different!”

Jacob Vasiloff, a senior at Rancho and a senior who got soaked, said he “had a good time” and the experience of participating in Soak a Senior was “really fun,” and thinks the event as a whole “brings the community together.” As for Spirit Week, he said his favorite day was jersey day since he’s “a big sports guy, so I’ve collected jerseys since I was younger.” Besides Soak a Senior, his favorite event of the week was the homecoming game because “the energy was fire. It was cool; it was awesome. The girls played great, and they got the win.”

Spirit Week is a super fun and unique way to get closer to everyone within the Rancho community, starting with unique dress-up days and ending with an unforgettable dance that students and faculty alike will remember.
