From service to hobbies, Rancho students have plenty of ways to get involved.

This year, at our annual club fair in August, we had 24 clubs represented by our Rancho students. These clubs included chapters of different national honor societies including National Honor Society (NHS), Tri-M national music honor society, National Art Honors Society (NAHS), and the National English Honor Society (NEHS). The remainder of the clubs are interest or service-based clubs, which means that you are able to participate in a hobby you enjoy and are able to do community service.

Some of the different clubs represented at the club fair were the Angel club, Pegasus, Hip-Hop club, Souls to Soles, Fishing club, Tutoring club, and so many more.

The presidents and leaders of all these clubs are a part of our student body and wanted to create their clubs for different reasons. For example, senior Doris Zhang, president of Angel club created Angel club because she felt “inspired by the community on the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Board and wanted to contribute to healing the community,” and senior Emma Xue created Tutoring club because she realized that “learning English is an important skill and this club could have the potential to not only help native Mandarin speakers improve English but also help native English speakers improve in their Mandarin.”

All Rancho Solano clubs offer amazing leadership opportunities and if you are not interested or able to get a leadership position in the club once you join, you may be able to get one the following year or at least learn more about the club which you would like to join.

This year at Rancho there have been some newly introduced rules surrounding club participation and what you need to qualify as a member in a club. According to Dean Wyrowski “clubs must meet regularly and what the club decides regularly is, is up to them,” “They must attend the high school club fair, and the prospective middle school club fair,” finally “they must hold at least 2 events per year and what constitutes an event is pretty open.”

The tradition of the Club Fair at Rancho has helped many people realize what clubs and communities they have the opportunity to participate in.

Get involved, join a club!
